The Political Action Art Auction is a benefit auction to help support the Stop Domain Subsidies organization as well as emerging
local artists. Stop Domain Subsidies is an organization who's goal is to stop the local government from giving $65 million in tax rebates to the
Domain Luxury Mall in NW Austin, which is considered an unfair practice and hurts local Austin small businesses
(read more here). The event will be held at the
Austin Art Garage on 9/13/08 from 6pm-9pm.

The Austin Art Garage is seeking local art works for the Political Action Art Auction. Art with a political or social commentary is preffered, but not exclusive. The Austin Art Garage is
responsible for the art selection process for this event. However, artist must abide by the rules listed below to have their art reviewed. Please do not come to the gallery to submit art. You must follow the submission process listed below. Thank you for your cooperation.
How does the Artists benefit?
First, the selected artists will be heavily promoted locally during the marketing process and at the event. Second, the artist will receive 30% of the final bid price of their art work(s). Please note, this is a benefit for the Stop Domain Subsidies organization. Also, the top 2 artists will be offered a 3 month consignment contract to show their work at the Austin Art Garage.
Preferred Art Forms:
Due to the nature of this event and the display area format, we're looking for original acrylic, oil, water color, or mixed media ready to hang art. However, 3D art forms will be considered, but acceptance will be limited. Photography will also be considered, but also limited.
Art Pricing:
The Austin Art Garage is fully responsible for setting the pricing for each art work selected for the Auction. However, we will consider starting the bidding price at 25% of the suggested retail price determined by the artist. The artist will be paid 30% of the final selling price, which is ultimately determined through the bidding process. Also, art pieces that are not sold are given back to the artist after the event.

Please attach and send 1-6 photo examples of your work in JPEG format (max file size 6mb). Due to the limited # of art selected, AAG will consider no more than 3 pieces from one individual artist. However you can submit up to 6 art pieces. Please name your photos with the title of the art piece.
* Suggested Retail Price: AAG will consider starting the bid price at 25% of the artist's suggested retail price. However, the final pricing decision is reserved by the gallery. Please note - This does not mean the art work will sell at 25% of the suggested retail price. The ultimate selling price is determined through the bidding process and the artist will receive a copy of the final invoice given to the buyer.
Art Submission Deadline: 9/09/08 (recently extended)
We encourage artists to create original custom pieces for this event. However, please note that all submissions must by submitted by the 8/08/08 deadline unless given approval by the gallery.
