Born and raised in the UK, but living almost half my life in the USA, I’ve experienced the American experiment from a unique perspective that continues to inform my work.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDerived from the French term for “formal permission to depart”, congé printing is a special image transfer process where a mirror-image xerograph is applied to a chosen surface using matte medium and pressure via squeegee. As the medium dries, the xerograph toner ‘departs’ from the carrier sheet, pulling the image onto the desired media when peeled away.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eCongé prints are often positioned on top of collage, paint, or other mixed media to add visual interest. These unique backgrounds, together with the small, random irregularities that occur during the transfer process, creates a truly one-off print.
