80's Movie Tribute Series

As a kid in the 1980's, most weekends my father took my brothers and me to the movies to get us out of the house and give my poor mother (of 6 kids) a break. It was a special time, an explosion in cinematic invention, corny plot twists and characters filled with bravado; perfect for an extremely visual kid with an epic imagination.  They inspired me and expanded my imagination lending to my future career as an artist.  So when I was recently asked to recreate movie posters from the 80's I jumped at the opportunity. However, soon after, I felt the immense weight of what I just committed to.  It wasn't just a commitment to my client, it was a commitment to myself. To do justice to the movies I adored; the movies that inspired me and shaped me as a kid of the 80's. I only hope I've done them some justice, but I'll leave it for others to decide.

Design Notes
I wanted this series to be for the fans of each title. Therefore, I decided not to include the movie names or the credits.  Movie posters typically come in a 9:16 aspect ratio and the designs often leave room for credits at the bottom.  This created a problem, because it looked odd with the bottom 1/5 of the composition blank. So I decided to make fake satirical advertisements relevant to each movie title to fit that space. Perhaps a bit cheesy, but hey, we're talking about the 80's here.
