Ben Stallman

Ben Stallman is an Austin-based wood burner who specializes in hyper-detailed wood burnings and fine art. After discovering he was colorblind at the age of 14, Ben pivoted to using a grayscale color palette. In 2013, he received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire with a concentration in photography and drawing.

After being introduced to pyrography through a tattoo artist, Ben formed an instant connection. For the past eight years, he’s blended his passion for intricate line work with the art of woodworking to form a fully original pyrographic style. Translated from Greek to writing with fire, pyrography is Ben’s way of paying homage to the landscapes that shaped him: the rocky Maine Coast, the mountains of New Hampshire, and the deserts of West Texas.

His latest body of work has been deemed “New Western” focusing on old western paintings from the 1800s and vintage cigarette ads, mixed in with a detailed graphic style and careful use of color.
