Sean Thornton

I grew up in South Austin in the 70s around a lot of creative and fun people including my artist dad. After briefly considering a career as an attorney I decided to pursue my MFA, which I successfully completed in 1993. I spent the next few years believing it would soon be possible to have a running car and health insurance while leading a revolutionary movement dedicated to creating art for the people. Eventually I became a pig salesman (absolutely true) and travelled widely in the Midwest.

I make images today for the same reason I made images as a child. I don’t need anyone’s permission and my images make me happy.
