Sophia Croasdale

Sophia Croasdale is a large-scale abstract artist based in Austin, TX. Originally from Palos Verdes, CA, she earned her BFA from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Her work is rooted in pattern painting, exploring the interplay of light, illusion, and color theory to create rhythmic compositions.

Deeply influenced by architecture, Sophia draws inspiration from the structured repetition found in building materials, tiles, and windows, as well as the organic patterns of nature— such as seashells and water reflections. She considers both the visual rhythm and emotional resonance of color and form, using vibrant hues, gradients, and dynamic patterns to create a balance between harmony and chaos.

Her current body of work centers on echoes—forms that resemble ripples or sound waves, each shape reverberating from the one before it. The gradient transitions within these forms enhance the sense of movement, evoking the lingering presence of sound or memory.
